Psychedelic Psychotherapist, Professor, and Researcher, Anne Metz (“The Person You Want to Be” – Ep. 27)

Anne Metz is a licensed professional counselor in five U.S. states (California, Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado, and Virginia), and is currently a clinical faculty member of Southern New Hampshire University’s online M.A. program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

In my interview with her for The Person You Want to Be, Dr. Metz describes the winding path that led from her upbringing in rural Appalachia to an eventual career as a mental health researcher, professor, and clinician.

This path wound even further and deeper when, in dealing with her own depression, she experienced a breakthrough using psychedelics in conjunction with the support of a skilled therapist. She now assists her own clients as a practitioner in the burgeoning field of psychedelic psychotherapy.

Anne shares candidly in this interview about her personal journey, and also answers my questions about the promise and risks involved in this nascent, potentially groundbreaking field in mental health care.
